BCOV Business Profile
Brightcove Inc., (Brightcove) incorporated in August 24, 2004, is a provider of cloud-based solutions for publishing and distributing professional digital media. The Company provides solutions to media, retail, technology and financial services companies, as well as governments, educational institutions and non-profit organizations. Its products include Brightcove Video Cloud and Zencoder Media Processing Service. Brightcove Video Cloud (Video Cloud), the Company’s flagship product, is an online video platform. As of December 31, 2012, the Company had 6,367 customers in over 60 countries. In August 2012, the Company acquired Zencoder Inc., It generates revenue by offering its products to customers on a subscription-based, software as a service (SaaS) model. During the year ended December 31, 2012 the Company’s customers have used Brightcove Video Cloud to deliver an average of approximately 699 million video streams per month. On February 27, 2013, the Company discountinued its App Cloud platform. Using Video Cloud, customers may upload videos related metadata with in various formats for adaptive video encoding. Video Cloud then automatically enables the content to be delivered to end users via a third-party CDN such as Akamai or Limelight Networks. Customers can set rules for geographic access and schedules to define where and when their videos can be viewed. Video Cloud allows for point-and-click styling and configuration of video players that can reflect the brand or design of the customer with tools for customizing colors and graphics. The Company’s video players also include a set of features, such as full-screen playback, sharing through social media and localized player controls. Video Cloud enables its customers to publish and distribute video to Internet-connected devices. Video Cloud also includes analytics that allow customers to understand and refine their engagement with end users. The Company has built Video Cloud to support numerous operating systems, formats and devices. In addition to Web-based experiences, Video Cloud provides publishing and delivery services for cross-platform devices, including smartphones and Connected televisions (TVs). The Company’s solution includes automated device detection for mobile Web experiences. Video Cloud supports a blended distribution strategy across the Internet, allowing customers to distribute videos on their own Website, partner Wbsites or video-sharing sites such as YouTube. Through integrated Video Cloud capabilities, users can share videos through Facebook, other social media destinations.
