Kolkata-based UCO Bank (UCO) is one of the leading commercial bank in the eastern region. The bank has around 35 regional offices spread all over the country. The bank had 1,723 domestic branches and 4 overseas branches as on 31st March 2005.
There are 11 (eleven) regional rural banks (RRBs) sponsored by the bank operating in five states, which with their 800 branches cater to the credit needs of the rural sector in 28 districts.
As of March 2005, the bank financed 13,282 projects involving new investment credit/project with an amount of Rs 1,169 million. The bank has issued 141,956 Kisan Credit Cards. The bank is functioning as a Depository Participant (DP) of National Securities Depository Ltd. (NSDL) & offers its DP services through its Bangalore, Hyderabad & Ahmedabad branches besides the 4 metros. The capital adequacy of the bank stood at 11.12% while the net NPA stood at 2.10%, as on Mar. 31, 2006.
The bank has decided to participate in exchange operations for India`s border trade with China through its branches situated in Sikkim. The bank is also planning to open a representative office in Malaysia to serve many of its clients in its Singapore branches having business interests in Malaysia. It is also in the process of entering an MoU with UAE Exchange of Dubai for `Express Money` agency arrangements.
