BUSINESS PROFILE :
Reliance Petroleum Limited (RPL) is a start-up company formed to set up a greenfield petroleum refinery and polypropylene plant in a special economic zone at Jamnagar in the state of Gujarat in India. RPL`s initial public offering had come up in April 2006 and it was listed in May 2006. The company started work on its refinery in December 2005 and it is likely to be completed by September 2008. This refinery and polypropylene plant will be located next to the existing refinery and petrochemical complex of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and will supply mainly to the export market.
The refinery is likely to have a capacity of 580 kilo barrels of crude oil per stream day (KBPSD) and a 0.9 million tons per annum (TPA) capacity polypropylene plant.
The products are likely to be petrol, diesel, kerosene, alkylates and petroleum coke, which have high margins and are in demand. This refinery, together with RIL`s existing 33 million tones per annum refinery, is slated to be the sixth largest at any single location in the world. The company`s promoters are Reliance Industries Limited (75%) and Chevron India Holdings (5%). |
