CPL Business Profile
CPFL Energia S.A., together with its subsidiaries, generates, distributes, and commercializes electricity to industrial, residential, commercial, rural, and other consumers in Brazil. It operates through five segments: Distribution, Conventional Generation Sources, Renewable Generation Sources, Commercialization, and Services. The company generates electricity through hydroelectric, thermoelectric, sugarcane biomass, solar energy, and wind power plants. It also manufactures, commercializes, rents, and maintains electro-mechanical equipment; and provides energy commercialization, administrative, telephone answering, billing and collection, telecommunication, and energy transmission services, as well as public and municipal services, such as street lighting. The company distributes electricity to approximately 7.4 million consumers primarily in the states of São Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul. As of December 31, 2013, it had installed capacity of approximately 2,988 megawatts; and 239,835 kilometers of distribution lines, including 342,336 distribution transformers. The company was founded in 1998 and is headquartered in São Paulo, Brazil.
