HINDCOPPER Business Profile
Incorporated in 1967, Hindustan Copper (HCL) took over the copper mines and plants of the National Mineral Development Corporation. In 1972, the then private sector Indian Copper Corporation, incorporated in England, was nationalised and made a part of HCL. Hindustan Copper Limited is a vertically integrated multi-unit copper producer. The company`s major activities include exploration, mining beneficiation, smelting, refining and casting of finished copper. The Government of India is the major investor holder with 99.48% of the total paid-up equity capital of the company. The company has copper ore mines in Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. It has manufacturing facilities in Jharkhand and Rajasthan and a continuous cast copper rod plant in Maharashtra. The Taloja project in Maharashtra has collaboration with Southwire Company, US. The company`s main products are continuous cast copper rod, copper cathode and copper wire rod. It also produces various by-products like gold, silver, sulphuric acid, selenium, copper sulphate, palladium etc. HCL was the first Indian copper producer to get ISO-9002 certificate for its continuous cast wire rod plant. ISO-9002 certificate has also been awarded for its cathode produced at its refineries at Indian Copper Complex in Jharkhand and Khetri Copper Complex. The current market capitalization stands at Rs 6,360.87 crore. The company has reported a standalone sales of Rs 335.05 crore and a Net Profit of Rs 62.01 crore for the quarter ended September 2013.
