Coleman Cable, Inc. (Coleman), incorporated in 1999, is a designer, developer, manufacturer and supplier of electrical wire and cable products for consumer, commercial and industrial applications, with operations primarily in the United States and in Honduras and Canada. The Company’s wire and cable products enable it to offer its customers a single source for many of their wire and cable product requirements. It manufactures its products in 10 domestic manufacturing locations and supplement its domestic production with both international and domestic sourcing. It sells its products to more than 8,000 active customers in end markets, including a range of specialty distributors, retailers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Its products are sold to customers located in either the United States or Canada. It operates in three segments: Distribution, OEM, and Other. It sells products from its four product lines across each of its reportable segments. Within these three reportable segments, it sells Its products into multiple channels, including electrical distribution, wire and cable distribution, original equipment manufacturer (OEM)/government, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC/R), irrigation, industrial/contractor, security/home automation, recreation/transportation, copper fabrication, the United States military, retail and automotive. On April 1, 2011, the Company acquired The Designers Edge. On April 29, 2011, the Company acquired certain assets of First Capitol Wire and Cable (FCWC) and Continental Wire and Cable (CWC). On May 16, 2011, the Company acquired Technology Research Corporation (TRC). In May 2012, the Company acquired Watteredge, Inc. The Company produces products across four product lines: industrial wire and cable, including portable cord, machine tool wiring, welding, instrumentation, tray and mining cable and other power cord products; electronic wire, including telephone, data, security and coaxial cable, thermostat wire and irrigation cable; assembled wire and cable products, including extension cords, booster and battery cable, lighting products and surge and strip products, and fabricated bare wire, including stranded, bunched, and single-end copper, copper clad steel and copper alloy wire. Its products are copper wire, which it draws from copper rod into a range of gauges of both solid and stranded copper wires. It uses amount of the copper wire, which it produces as an input into the production of its finished wire and cable products, while the remainder of its copper wire production is sold in the form of bare copper wire to external OEMs and wire and cable producers.
