The company was incorporated in March 2006. It entered into a scheme of arrangement with Zee Telefilms and Siti Cable Network. As per the arrangement, the company has taken over Cable Business Undertakings of Zee Telefilms and Siti Cable Network (WOS of Zee Telefilms).
Wire and Wireless India, an arm of Zee Network, which provides satellite broadcasting in India and is one of the first private-sector entrants to the Indian broadcasting industry. It launched its flagship television channel Zee TV in the year 1992.
WWIL, India`s largest multi system operators (MSO), is a part of ESSEL Group with a market capitalization of over USD 1.7 billion serving a customer base of 6.7 million with presence in 35 cities with 400 centers in India.
WWIL is one of the first companies in India to provide triple play services, which enable subscribers to get access to television channels, Internet and Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) services and are in the process of being the first company in India to launch `Head-end In The Sky` (HITS). Among the other features being introduced by WWIL are movie on demand (MOD) / video on demand (VOD), pay per view (PPV) and interactive games.
In Delhi, the company has acquired a 51% stake in satellite channels. It has also signed up with Spectranet and Sanjay Cable Network.
It has three subsidiaries that is Indian Cable Net, Central Bombay Cable Network and Siticable Broadband South.
The new Shares of WWIL shall be listed on all the stock exchanges on which the shares of ZTL are listed as on the effective date.
