BUSINESS PROFILE :
Havell`s India was incorporated as Havell`s Pvt. Ltd. in August 1983 and converted into a public limited company in March 1992. It has facilities for manufacture of switchgear items viz. miniature circuit breakers (MCB), MCB distribution boards (DB) and HRC fuses at Samepur Badli, Delhi. The company has also entered into a technical collaboration with M/s Christian Geyer GmbH & Co., Germany for the manufacture of miniature circuit breakers in India.
Havell`s has presence in UK, Iraq, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Middle East, Far East and Latin American countries. Havell`s has forged an alliance with the Dubai-based Bahri & Mazroei Trading Company (BMTC) for marketing electrical products in West Asia. It has set up a factory at Haridwar (Uttaranchal) for manufacturing of fans. The company has been awarded the KEMA certification by the Dutch Council for Accreditation, making it the only group in India which has this certificate. The company has set up an R&D centre in Noida. It has also acquired a Greek company. Crabtree India has also been merged with Havell`s India.
Havell`s is looking for acquisitions in the European and American markets to become a global player in the switchgear and electronic metering systems. The group has already bought Standard Electrical Ltd. and Duke Arnics in the domestic markets, which helped it expand its market base besides entering the exports market.
Financials
Havell`S India registered a 44.96% growth in net profits to Rs 294.42 million for the quarter ended in March, 2007 from a profit of Rs 203.10 million for the quarter ended in March, 2006.
Net Sales for the quarter rose 23.52% to Rs 4,403.16 million for the quarter ended March, 2007 from Rs 3,564.80 million for the quarter ended March, 2006.
Total income rose 23.58% to Rs 4428.71 million for the quarter ended March, 2007, from Rs 3583.7 million for the quarter ended March, 2006.
The earnings per share (EPS) of the company stood at Rs 5.48 in the quarter ended March, 2007.
