Birla Yamaha Ltd (BYL), now a Yash Birla group company; was formed with the objective to manufacture portable generators and multi purpose engines; it was incorporated in 1984 and was promoted jointly by Tungabhadra Industries (Birla Group) and Yamaha Motor Co Ltd, Japan.
The company has manufacturing facility at Dehradun, Uttar Pradesh. With installed capacity of manufacturing 75,000 portable generator set and 25,000 multi purpose engines, BYL pioneered the portable generator market in India and is the second largest player in the portable gensets market with a 35% market share.It’s Gensets & multi purpose engines are sold under the brand name Yamaha Birla Power and Birla Power Plus respectively.
Of late, the company which started with the manufacture of portable generators and engines in the range of 0.5KW to 4KW has come with various new models and Gensets for eg. Self start generators and Yamaha brand of EF6600E (5.5KW) electric start genset. The Company currently introduced a latest generator 500 watt in Delhi market and is putting special efforts to provide instant service to the customer at his doorstep and for this purpose has adopted the franchisee route to cater to customer a better service requirements.
