Balrampur Chini Mills is one of the largest integrated sugar manufacturing companies in India. The allied businesses of the company consist of manufacturing and marketing of alcohol, generation of power and manufacturing of organic manure. The company has six sugar factories located in eastern Uttar Pradesh (India) having an aggregate sugarcane crushing capacity of 47,500 TPD.
The company has integrated operations and its close proximity to the raw materials facilitates operational efficiency and optimal utilization of by-products. Going forward, the company is well poised to tap the growing opportunities with steady increase in capacities. Also, higher production of allied sugar products and improved industry scenario for the same would facilitate revenue growth. The company continues to benefit from the locational advantage of its plants in eastern UP.
The company plans to scale up capacity to 75,000 TCD in two years. It has commissioned its greenfield sugar complex at Akbarpur in eastern UP which has reached 95% capacity utilization and is expected to crush 0.7 million tonnes of cane in the current season. Another new 7,000 TCD sugar plant and 35MW (saleable 24MW) cogeneration power facility, 60 KLPD distillery and 20,000 MT of bio-compost is under implementation at Mankpur in eastern Uttar Pradesh (India) at a cost of Rs 3 billion.
BCML intends to grow both through organic as well as inorganic growth. Among its acquisitions are the Tulsipur Sugar Co. and Babhnan Sugar Mills, a loss-making private company. Babhnan`s performance improved significantly thereafter and its capacity has been increased to 5,500 TCD.
